Heidi
For
many years I have admired the
Landseer, since I really like big
dogs with thick coat. I really
love the breed Pyrenean mountain
dog that I had earlier, but now I
wanted an easier breed than them
(mentally), who isn´t bred for
guarding.
And
since the Landseer also is a
really beautiful breed I got
interested by them. So, finally
after about 6-7 years I got in
contact with a breeder who I think
has got an common sense about
breeding and who’s got the type
of landseer that I like. They
appear in a bit different types
and I like the ones that are a
little bigger and with more body.
So,
in February -05 we went to get
Heidi from kennel Icikarma's
in
Norway
.
And wow, either me or Peter could
keep our hands off that little
soft puppy on the way home, she
was so very smooth and had the
most soft coat we’ve ever felt!
Well,
It seems that I really got my
bigger type, Heidi is right now
almost 10 months old and her
weight is 56 kg´s and she is 75
cm high… I hope that she won’t
grow anymore now, or else she will
get a little too big for a female.
But she is really healthy, she has
never had any problems with bad
stomach, skin disease or any
growing pain.
She
is also very nice mentally, not
quite as forward as my springers-
but then how many dogs are ;)
She
likes to have contact, she´s very
active and good at reading other
dogs signals. The only thing with
her is that she still think´s she
is the little puppy who everybody
wants to have in their lap, and
that she still fits very well in our
sofa and our bed without taking
any space…
She
has been showned a couple of times
as puppy and she has done well. We´re
planning her debut in official
classes this winter so we´ll just
have to see how she´s doing in
competition with the other adults.
She´s got a beautiful, feminine
head and expression, she´s very
well bodied for her age, and she´s
got an extraordinary coat!! Beside
the larger black spots she has on
her head and her back, she only
has three tiny dots on her paws.
So she´s completely pure white in
her white coat and that makes her
even more impressive!

Heidi sleeps, she will probably
always think she is very small dog
